Riso for Zines workshop

Riso for Zines workshop In-Person

What is riso? What are zines? In this workshop, you’ll gain experience with both!

Risograph printing is a method of duplication that uses a machine that looks like a photocopier but works like screenprinting. Images are used to create stencils that print with vibrant, eco-friendly inks, resulting in brightly colored, charmingly imperfect prints. Zines are DIY publications that can take on any form or subject matter, limited only by the zine maker’s interests and imagination. This workshop explores the power of using riso to print zines, with examples of riso zines and hands-on experience with riso printing to create a collaborative zine.

The theme of our collaborative zine will be: spices! We'll provide supplies and inspiration, and participants will leave with their own copy of the zine, plus a print of their page.

We hope to see you at the Innovation Lab on the lower level of the College Center! Registration is not required but is always appreciated for planning purposes.

This workshop is co-facilitated by the VC Innovation Lab and the Vassar College Libraries. It is part of The Science of Spices, a week of events exploring the science of spices through experiential learning and community. Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations or information on accessibility should contact the Campus Activities Office at (845) 437-5371.
