A Look at the 1969 Black Studies Sit-In In-Person
Join the Engaged Pluralism Working Group on Race & Racism in Historical Collections for A Look at the 1969 Black Studies Sit-In. Participants in this hands-on workshop will engage with materials from the College Archives related to this impactful student action, including student-created documents and flyers, behind-the-scenes administrative correspondence, responses from VC alumni, and widespread local and national press coverage. Explore the legacy of the Black students who took over Main and were instrumental in the development of the Black Studies (now Africana Studies) program, and discuss how our archives reflect and shape this important story of activism on campus.
