Session 1, Drop in between 10:00am - noon
Building and Maintaining Your Author Profiles and Keeping Current with Scholarship
Come by to receive individual help setting up (or tuning up) your author profile. Learn to establish and optimize your ORCID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID), and claim and edit your scholarly profiles in Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus. Claiming and maintaining your profiles ensures that your work is correctly represented and attributed to you, allows you to keep up to date with works in your field, and notifies you when authors cite your work or works that you’re citing in your research. Led by Gretchen Lieb, History and Multidisciplinary Librarian, Melanie Maksin, Head of Academic Engagement, and Elizabeth Salmon, Social Science Librarian.
Visit our Author/Researcher/Scholarship Profiles research guide for more information.
Session 2, 1:00 - 2:00pm
Open Access Publishing
Learn about the landscape for open access (OA) publishing support at Vassar, including our OA read-and-publish agreements with PLoS (Public Library of Science), Cambridge, and Oxford; discuss additional journals and publishers you would like to see added as an OA read-and-publish partner. Whether you've published an OA article previously, or are just beginning to think about how to identify and evaluate OA publications and submit your work, this session will help you think through what options might be available in your field, as well as considerations for copyright. Led by Debra Bucher, Head of Collections and Discovery, and Andrew Ashton, Director of the Libraries.
